Freelance Jobs & Work at Home Arrangements
Ever thought about freelance jobs or the dream of working from home? With the arrival of the Internet into the mainstream of business life, the Web has become a huge revenue generating machine that makes both feasible, if not downright attractive! I personally know of at least 10 young Canadian entrepreneurs who, while unemployed, started a little website and transformed it into millions and I'm not talking about Youtube (although that IS a great success story). I’ll tell you who they are in a minute!
However, back to YOU YOU and your career! Yes, think about how the Internet can become more than just your job bank. There's a whole world out there beyond Winnipeg, and there are many many employers looking for people to do various kinds of work, real work - not stuffing envelopes or phone s*x, or anything nefarious. But these employers know that the Internet is the great equalizer, and it's where they go to look for great help. Whether you are a programmer from India, a translator from Russia, or a designer from Winnipeg, if you can connect to the Internet you can promote your services and skills. And hundreds, no thousands, maybe millions of freelancers do this each day. Some still have full time jobs!!! Even if your career goal IS full time work, it may be a while till your dream job comes along. In the meantime you still have a life (still have bills to pay). But you still have SKILLS too. Put them to use, keep them up to date, and learn from them. Try a freelance gig. I have been both an employer of freelancers in this way - to code websites; and I have been a freelancer, writing English language articles for a company in South America. It's a great system. I'm still listed on a few and continue to be on their lists to see what projects have come in. These services are much like a dating service for people who can work from home, for employers who have limited time projects and don't need the expense of hiring a full-time employee. These services facilitate the match between you and an employer with a project or contract. Some are free, some charge a small fee, some will charge you a commission. But they essentially all work the same way. Check out these freelance job options - even if it's only one contract you take, you'll have more money, gain new technical experience, acquire valuable business experience such as contracting, billing and time management (which employers LOVE). These organizations are the most reputable, they have been around a while and I know they work.
